Abstract
1530636 Pre-combustion chamber engines NIPPON SOKEN Inc 4 Feb 1976 [1 Sept 1975] 04444/76 Heading F1B The chamber 2 which receives mixture from the intake passage 12 communicates with the main combustion chamber 1 through apertures 8 and 9 and the volume of the chamber 2 is between 0À03 and 0À13 times the total combustion chamber volume at T.D.C. The aperture 8 has an area between 0À03 and 0À15 and the aperture 9 an area between 0À024 and 0À12 sq. cm. per cc of the volume of the chamber 2. The area ratio of the apertures 8 and 9 is between 0À8 and 2À2. A secondary carburetter (15B), Fig. 3 (not shown), may supply richer mixture to a pipe (20) opening in the passage 12 at the side of the port 10 adjacent the aperture 1. A nozzle (30), Fig. 4 (not shown), may direct a rich mixture continuously or intermittently towards the side of the passage 12 nearest the aperture 8, the passage being supplied with air or a lean mixture. The apertures 8 and 9 may each be defined by a plurality of apertures.
