Abstract

1502809 Supplying fuel-air mixture to precombustion chamber ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 5 May 1975 [8 Nov 1974] 18702/75 Heading F1B An I.C. engine comprises main and precombustion chambers 7 and 4 connected by a flame passage 6, there being an inlet valve 2 which controls the admission of air-fuel mixture to the main combustion chamber 7 and controls ports 15 in valve seat 12 which are connected to the precombustion chamber via passage 17 to cause airfuel mixture to be drawn into the pre-combustion chamber. When valve 2 opens, flow into the main combustion chamber produces a reduced pressure in port 15 and passage 17 which draws rich mixture into the pre-combustion chamber via the flame passage 6. The ports 15 connect with an annular passage 14 in an insert ring 13 on which the valve seat 12 is formed.
