Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish sufficient mixing of secondary fluid and intake mixture and uniform distribution of air-fuel mixture to a plurality of cylinders, by forming an annular stepped part at an intermediate section of an intake passage in the manner that its sectional area is increased from the upstream side to the downstream side, and opening a secondary-fluid injection port in said stepped part.
CONSTITUTION: An intake passage 2 of a carburetor 1 includes an intake passage 11 that is defined by a sleeve member 10 fitted in a heat insulator 7. Here, a cylindrical bore 12 having a larger dismeter than the intake passages 2, 11 is formed at one end of the section 9 where the intake passage 2 and an intake manifold 8 are joined, and an annular stepped part 13 is formed at the lower end of the heat insulator 7. Further, a secondary-fluid injection port 15 is formed between the heat insulator 7 and sleeve member 10 in the manner that it is opened in an annular passage 14 at one end and in the annular stepped part 13 at the other end. With such an arrangement, secondary fluid is supplied to the annular passage 14 via a conduit 17 and an inlet port 16 and then injected from an injection port 15 into the section 9 via the bore 12 in the manner of enveloping air-fuel mixture in the section 9.
