Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain good quality reversal images by using the magnetic toners of semiconductivity or insulation characteristic and making the bias voltage to be applied to the developing part to the same polarity as that of the electrostatic latent images in the method of obtaining the reversal images by the use of the two-component developers.
CONSTITUTION: Electrostatic latent imges are formed on the material layer 1b on a conductive substrate 1a and an electric field E is formed by the bias voltage Vb between a nonmagnetic conductive sleeve 2 and the noncharging region of the electrostatic latent images. Magnetic brushes 5aW5d are created by a magnet 3 and the magnetic brush 5b starts electrolytic dissociation in the inside of the magnetic toners right after it has entered the electric field E. After this, the electrolytic dissociation becomes further larger owing to the recoupling of the adjoining magnetic toners to themselves and charges like the magnetic brush 5c and finally the attraction force to the material layer 1b owing to the electrostatic force of the magnetic toners at the end of the magnetic brushes becomes larger than that of the magnet 3 and the magnetic toners are attracted to the noncharged area of the material layer 1b like the magnetic brush 5d.
