Abstract

PURPOSE: To minimize the decrease in the static charge of the developed magnetic toners and perform good electrostatic transfer by electrostatically controlling the magnetic toners having been developed by being applied with the specified electric field.
CONSTITUTION: The electrostatic latent images 1a... formed in the photoreceptor material layer 1 provided with a conductor on the back surface are developed by magnetic toners 2... The static charge of the developed toners 2 is controlled by the electric field formed by an electric field forming member 3 which is applied with the superposed voltage of the DC component V0 of the same polarity as the charge of the latent images 1a... and AC components, resulting in the lower resistance between the material 1 and the toners 2 near the peak A of the field voltage. This promotes the transfer of the static charge of the toners 2 toward the member 3 direction so that the charge of the polarity opposite to that of the latent images 1a is concentrated in the member 3 side surface of the toners 2. Hence, the decrease in the static charge of the developed magnetic toners is minimized and the good and sure electrostatic transfer may be accomplished.
