Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an optimum ignition timing, by detecting a knocking signal from the output of a vibrative acceleration sensor for an engine without being affected by varied noise factors and controlling the ignition timing by the knocking signal. CONSTITUTION:The output signal from an acceleration sensor 1 for detecting the vibrative acceleration of a machine is passed through a frequency filter 2 for passing the frequency component which is highly sensitive to the knocking, then a comparator 5 rectifies, amplifies and smoothes the output voltages from the frequency filter 2 a comparator 5 compares the output voltage from the frequency filter 2 with the output from a noise level detector 4 which rectifies, amplifies and smoothes the output voltage from the filter 2 and produces a voltage level which is predetermined times that of average DC voltage level of mechanical vibration noise having no relation with the knocking of machine thus to produce a knocking detection pulse. An analog gate 3 is closed during knocking detection pulse generating period to suppress the rising of output voltage level of noise level detector 4 due to knocking signal.
