Abstract

PURPOSE: To avoid influence of knocking vibration by holding a background noise level-signal at the same level as that right after knocking occurrence while the knocking is occurring.
CONSTITUTION: The output signal of the sensor that detects the knocking vibration of the engine is amplified by amplifier 2 and then rectified by rectifier 3. With analog switch 4 closed, this rectified signal is sent to and averaged by mean-value circuit 5 and then amplified by amplifier 6 to obtain a signal equivalent to a background noise level. This background noise level signal is compared with the output signal of sensor 1 after the amplification by comparator 7 to obtain a pulse string signal by conversion. When knocking occurs and the output of comparator 7 is held at a low level, analog switch 4 is opened to prevent an amplification part of amplification accompanying the knocking from being sent to mean-value circuit 5.
