Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the coefficients of friction between the steel material under rolling and rolling rolls to be readily obtained by measuring the inlet thickness of the steel material, the peripheral speeds of the rolls and the outlet thickness of the steel material and inputting these measured values to operators.
CONSTITUTION: The inlet thickness t0 of a steel material, roll peripheral speed VR, outlet thickness t and outlet speed V are normally measured by the inlet thickness gauge 1, revolution number meter 2, outlet thickness gauge 3 and outlet speedometer 4 installed respectively to the inlet of rolling rolls R, rolls R and the outlet of the rolls R. These measured values are inputted to operators 5, 6, 7, 8, by which the forward slip area Sf and backward slip area Sb on the projection plane from the direction perpendicular to the axis are obtained from the operator 6 and the projection contact area SR from the horizontal direction is obtained from the operator 7, thence the coefficient of friction μ is obtained according to formula 1 from the operator 8. In this way, the coefficients of friction may be normally obtained with ease during rolling.
