Abstract
PURPOSE: To measure an outer peripheral length of spiral pipe accurately in succession by a method wherein a peripheral length of the spiral pipe is computed according to width dimension and feeding rate of a plate material and delivery rate of the spiral pipe manufactured, and an error correction is carried out according to a measured value obtained as required.
CONSTITUTION: A width W of a band steel S is measured on a width meter 1 and a supply velocity Vs on a plate speed indicator 2; a delivery rate Vp of a spiral pipe SP obtained through welders W1, W2 is measured on a pipe speed indicator 3. These measured values are tranferred to an arithmetic unit 5, and an outer peripheral length L of the spiral pipe SP is computed according to an expression L=(W× VS/VP)×α+β. Compensation coefficients α, β are corrected according to peripheral lengths measured 6 as required.
