Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the accurate measurement of mean velocity of flow irrespective of water level changes by correcting the flow velocity signal obtainable by an ultrasonic current flows by the correction factor based on the water level signal by an ultrasonic level gauge.
CONSTITUTION: The flow velocity v measured by ultrasonic flow velocity detecting parts 21, 22 and converted by a flow velocity converter 3 is inputted to an operator 7. Further the water level H of flowing water is measured by the ultrasonic level gauge detecting part 5 provided in the upper part of an open channel 1 and the level H converted by a level converter 6 is inputted to the operator 7. The correction coefficient K obtainable from the flow velocity distribution curve with respect to water levels have beforehand been stored in the operator 7 and if the means flow velocity V is obtained by multiplying the flow veloctiy signal v measured from the ultrasonic flow meter detecting parts 21, 22 by the correction factor k corresponding to the level H measured from the ultrasonic level gauge 5, the mean flow velocity is obtained irrespective of the water levels.
