Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce initial and maintenance costs by a method wherein seawater for cooling is supplied by a unit of seawater pump, in which discharge is regulated properly to control temperatures of fluids such as clean cooling water for a main engine within a predetermined range.
CONSTITUTION: A temperature detector 13 is installed at a main engine outlet portion for clean cooling water of a cylinder cooling system to feed back a detection end temperature to a speed change gear 14 for a seawater pump to control the detection end temperature at a certain value. A new charge of which temperature has increased with the pressure by a turbocharger passes through a new charge cooler 11 to be cooled to 35W40°C, however, a feed water is undercooled when a seawater temperature is low. To prevent the super cooling, a part of a high temperature seawater is returned to the suction side of a seawater pump 6, by the functions of a seawater recirculation line 18, a recirculation discharge control valve 20 and a temperature detector 19 to control a temperature at an inlet for a cooling seawater at a predetermined value.
