Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain good-quality treated water under a small aeration ratio condition by a method wherein the quantity of aeration to a closed type aeration tank and the tank internal pressure are controlled to correspond to the change in speed of oxygen take-in of active sludge which changes with time.
CONSTITUTION: During the treatment period of waste water, the amount of aeration to aeration tank and the taank internal pressure are controlled. The control is made by pressure control and exhaustion valves attached to the tank, so that the change is made, in increase and decrease, to follow each hystogram. This effects in reducing an aeration factor and increasing an oxygen absorption efficiency. The rate of oxygen absorption from liquid to be treated at a specified BOD load is measued, for example, according to the sewage test method. The measurement value change with time is used to control the amount to aeration to the aeration tank and to find the time to make its switching. A small scale recovery treatment is made by using a small amount of liquid being treated, and the result is used to convert the oxygen absorption speed of active sludge to the speed of oxygen movement in a clean water at 20°C. The result is further converted to the amount of draft to obtain an approximate aeration amount.
