Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a corrosion resistant layer by a method wherein the surface of zinc, etc. is coated with an acidic treatment liquid contg. water-soluble Cr cpd. contg. specific amount of aqueous organic high molecular cpd. and trivalent Cr cpd., and after being dried, the layer thickness of the high molecular cpd. is treated to a specified thickness. CONSTITUTION:The surface of Zn, Al or alloy of them is coated with an acidic treatment liquid essentially consisting of one or more aqueous organic high molecular cpd. slected from, for example, polyacrylic acid and polymethacrylic acid, water-insoluble white carbon and/or silicasol of 0.01-3mu particle size, and water soluble Cr cpd. in which trivalent Cr occupies 30-60wt% of the total Cr, so that the coating thickness is to be 60-300mg/m<2> based on metal Cr. The coating layer is dried and treated to give 0.2-2mu thick dried film of the aqueous organic high molecular cpd. This provides a surface treatment layer which allows no Cr to be dissolved out, gives good adhesivity to coated layer, and prevents white rust generation.
