Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a ground coating, which is excellent in corrosion resistance and adhesive property for painting, on the surface of a metal or an alloy described in the title, by treatment with an aq. soln. of a specific composition comprising trivalent Cr; at least one member selected from the group consisting of polyphosphoric ester of myoinositol or its salts, tannin or tannic acid. CONSTITUTION:The surface of iron, steel, or Zinc, or an alloy of each metal, with or without chemical conversion treatment by phosphate, is treated with an aq. soln. contg. 0.05-20g/l trivalent Cr ions; 0.1-20g/l at least one member selected from the group consisting of phosphoric ester having 2-6 bonded myoinositol, e.g., phytic acid or its salts, tannin or tannic acid, and 1-hydroxy-alkane-1,1-diphosphonic aicd. The aq. soln. is adjusted to a pH 1.5-6.0, pref., 3.0-5.0.
