Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a coating excellent in corrosion resistance and excellently suitable for ground coat, by chromate-treating the surface of zinc-plated steel sheet with aq. fluid contg. prescribed quantities of a water-soluble Cr<6+> cpd., and an Al-F cpd. CONSTITUTION:Zn-plated steel sheet is chromate-treated by dipping it into an aq. treating fluid contg. 3-50g/l at least one member selected from the group comprising Cr<6+> cpds., e.g., CrO3, Na2Cr2O7 etc., and 0.1-10g/l at least one member selected from the group comprising Al-F cpds., e.g., Na3AlF6 etc. Hereby steel sheet is improved in corrosion resistance as it is uncoated compared with that treated by conventional method, and in adhesive property to the coating as it is, and in corrosion resistance after coated.
