Abstract

PURPOSE: To control dehydrator installing water-content sensor for detecting the water-content of dehydrated sludge on endless carrier filter cloth belt.
CONSTITUTION: A vacuum sucking mask 4, a pressure belt 3, etc. compose a dehydrator, in which a water-content sensor 13, which is freely rotatable, is pressed to contact the surface of the endless carrier filter cloth belt 2 on which dehydrated sludge is to be deposited. The sensor 13 consists of an electric insulating cylinder and a pair of electrodes 2 wound with a given space on the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder. The electrodes 2 are electrically connected to a hydraulic pressure generator 7 and, in accordance with electric resistance varied with water content, controls the pressure of a vacuum pump 5 and the pressure of a hydraulic cylinder 6, so that the water content of dehydrated sludge is always maintained at a specified value.
