PURPOSE:To form a screen plate with strong protective glass simply by the procedure in which a stripe filter-forming portion is slightly projected from the peripheral portion of a screen plate and then a thin glass plate is bonded on the stripe filter-forming portion and then polished. CONSTITUTION:The peripheral portion b of the glass base plate 1 on which the stripe filter 2 is formed is lowered by 5-20mum, and the thin glass plate 3 is laid over the base plate with the aid of the adhesive 4, e.g., epoxy resin, etc. And, after the adhesive 4 is hardened, the thin glass plate 3 is polished to form the protective smooth layer on stripe filter surface. Thus, the thin glass plate 3 is not made thin abnormally even if a polishing with peripheral dullness is made, so that a stripe filter screen plate with a mechanically strong protective glass can be obtained.
