Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable an online computer to exercise economical control over the number of pumps by predicting the number of pumps while the cumulated value of the inflow of the arrived water well of an intake plant will be between the upper and lower limits of the predicted cumulated value of outlet water discharge all the time, and then by finding the number of pumps to be put into operation corresponding to a request responding to it and the operation cost.
CONSTITUTION: Water from intake pump 1 is stored in arrived water well 2 and sent out at need and controller 3 for the number of pumps controls the start and stop of each pump. Then, the predicted discharge of the arrived water well is cumulated in terms of time to obtain curve E and then the changeable value of the overall water discharge of the arrived water well, i.e., the water volume at the time of the two-water level upper limit and that at the time of the one-water-level lower limit are added to curve E to find curve F. Here, while cumulated value A of arrived-water well intke flow is set between curves E and F all the time, the number of pumps to be put into operation is predicted and the demand and operation cost agreeing with the predicted number of pumps are used to determine the number of pumps to be put into operation. Consequently, a solution which is not strict but quasioptimum is found by the set of relatively-simple processes, so that a online control computer will be enabled to exercise control over the number of pumps.
