Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the transient frequency fluctuation when switched to the spare unit, by detecting the control voltage of the control oscillator immediately before the selection of the reference input, setting the count value of frequency divider based on this control voltage, and using the switching system where the output of the frequency divider is taken as the comparative input of the phase comparator. CONSTITUTION:When the reference input is switched from the existing use input terminal 1 to the spare input terminal 2, the switched reference input is input to the phase comparator 5 and the connection between the phase comparator 1 and the low pass filter 6 is open with the first switch 10 for one period of the reference input. While this opening, the reference input is fed to the frequency divider 8 via the second switch 11. Simultaneously, the control voltage of the control oscillator VCO7 immediately before the switching is detected at the detector 12. The count value of the frequency divider 8 is set based on this control voltage. Further, the output pulse of VCO7 is frequency-divided based on the set value and the output is taken as the input of the phase comparator 5.
