Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively recover an additive component and economically purify a zinc electrolytic soln. by adding copper sulfate to a chlorine-contg. sinc sulfate soln.; further adding zinc dust to form chlorine- and copper-contg. precipitates; and using the filtrate as the zinc electrolytic soln.
CONSTITUTION: In purifying a zinc electrolytic soln. in a wet zinc refining process, copper sulfate is added to a chlorine-contg. purified soln. or electrolytic soln. for electrolysis to react the chlorine with copper ions, forming slightly soluble cuprous chloride. Thus, the soln. is dechlorinated. Zinc dust is then added to precipitate the copper ions, and the above-mentioned chlorine-contg. precipitates and the copper- contg. precipitates are separated filtration. The resulting filtrate is a zine sulfate soln., and it is used as the zinc electrolytic soln. Without using expensive substances of a conventional method chlorine is removed, the additive zinc dust can be recovered effectively, and the zinc electrolytic soln. can be purified very efficiently and economically.
