Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove harmful metals as oxide and CN as N2 and CO2 quantitatively by a method wherein sodium chloride is added to waste water containing Pb.Cu. Ni.Cr or the like and cyanate thereof, and electrolysis is carried out at low voltage to oxidize heavy metals.
CONSTITUTION: Sodium chloride is added to waste water containing Pb.Cu.Ni. Cr.Cd.Fe.Zn and cyanate thereof in a small amount corresponding to a content of a harmful substance and acid. Subsequently, this water is electrolyzed at low voltage of 0.09W10V and each metal is quantitatively removed as oxide as well as CN is quantitatively as N2 and CO2. By this method, because voltage is low as well as electric current is weak, electrolysis of water is controlled and, therefore, an amount bubbles according to the generation of H2 and O2 is reduced. Moreover, electrolysis of sodium chloride is advanced accompanying with electrolysis of metal and generated Cl2 is immediately acted to precipitated metal to convert the said metal to metal oxide. Therefore, this metal oxide is precipitated without depositing to electrode plates.
