Abstract
PURPOSE: A parallel flow type reactor of high performance which is composed of the catalyst aggregate comprising coated catalyst components on metal plates formed with small protrusions by being bent at every fixed interval then stacking plural sheets of said small protrusions as spacers, which causes less ventilation loss and whose effective catalytic area is approximate to its geometrical surface area.
CONSTITUTION: A metal plate or expanded metal is bent at every fixed interval (p) to make small protrusions 2 of a height (b), after which catalyst components are coated on both surfaces of this plate to make a catalyst 1. Next, with the protrusions 2 of these catalysts 1 as spacers, the catalysts are stacked to form the catalyst aggregate arrayed regularly with the multiple channels 3 in which the fluid to be treated flows. Gas channels 4 are formed in the places encircled by the catalysts 1 and protrusions 2. Here, it is possible to make the mass transfer coefficient about 80% of that of parallel flat plates by selecting (p) and (b) so that the relation of the foregoing p>9b holds. It is also possible to make the effective catalytic area of this catalyst aggregate approach to its geometrical surface area.
