Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve measurement precision with undesired reflection, etc., reduced by detecting the generation frequency of a Karman vortex by an ultrasonic wave and by effetively absorbing the ultrasonic wave in a tube wall by a sound absorption mechansim provided to the inner surface of a flowmeter tube wall.
CONSTITUTION: A measured fluid, flowed in opening part 1, reaches straight tube part 2 passing through rectifier 11 and throttle part 9 with an arc-shaped throttle surface, so that vortex producing mechanism 3 will produce a Karman vortex street with regularity. Ultrasonic-wave transmitter 6 of ultrasonic-wave vortex detection mechanism 5 sends an ultrasonic wave and the Karman vortex is detected as a vortex generation signal by receiver 7 surrounded with tube wall 8. At this time, a sound absorptive material is stuck to inner wall surface 8 of the tube and mesh-shaped substance 16 is provided to the front surfaces of ultrasonic-wave transmitter 6 and receiver 7 at the same position as the sound absorptive material surface, so that high-precision vortex detection can be carried out with undesired reflection of an ultrasonic wave eliminated.
