Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove diesel knocking caused by the delayed ignition by providing an injection nozzle in a main combustion chamber to keep a direction by which the necessary fuel for ignition can be injected into a pre-combustion chamber through an injection hole opened from the pre-combustion chamber to the main combustion chamber.
CONSTITUTION: A pre-combustion chamber 2 is provided above a main combustion chamber 1, and connected to the main combustion chamber 1 through a passage 3 opened into the main combustion chamber 1 by an injection hole 4. An injection nozzle 5 is arranged in the main combustion chamber 1 to keep a direction by which the necessary fuel for ignition can be injected into the pre-combustion chamber 2 through the injection hole 4. When fuel is injected from the injection nozzle 5 into the pre-combustion chamber 2 through the injection hole 4 during a compression stoke, rich mixture is provided in the pre-combustion chamber 2, and ignited. The ignited flame is forcibly jetted out into the main combustion chamber 1 through the injection hole 4 together with unburned fuel, thereby igniting and burning the fuel inside the main combustion chamber 1.
