Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture high tensile steel wire rod for a PC steel bar, which is excellent in mechanical characteristics such as a yield point, relaxation resisting characteristics, etc., by a method wherein low alloy steel is rolled under a specified condition and hot-corrected without quenching it. CONSTITUTION:Low alloy steel containing 0.10-0.40% C, 0.05-1.50% Si, 0.70-2.50% Mn, 0.10-1.50% Cr, 0.05-0.50% Mo is hot-rolled and worked to wire rod. The wire rod is forcedly cooled at 500-700 deg.C immediately, and developed in a shape that forms continuous rings on a conveyor under hot-cold austenite conditions. The wire rod is changed into martensite structure on the conveyor by cooling it at cooling speed of 7 deg.C/second or more by a blast. The wire rod is spirally wound by means of a focusing device, slowly cooled and self-tempered. And the wire rod is warm-corrected to that the bending of the wire rod be kept within 4mm per 1.5m at the temperatures of 100-450 deg.C. Thus, the high tensile wire rod is obtained whose yield point is high, excellent in relaxation resisting characteristics and suitable for a PC steel bar in tensile strength of 110kg/m<2> or more.
