Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce an electric welded steel pipe of superior tensile strength and low temp. toughness by adding Ti of a min. required amt. necessary for fixing N to killed steel of specific composition and performing hot rolling finishing, pipe making and cooling under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:A steel material contg., by weight ratio, 0.03-0.20% C, <=0.35% Si, 0.90-2.00% Mn, <=0.030% P, <=0.020% S, 0.010-0.080% Al, and further 1 or 2 kinds of 0.010-0.150% Nb, and 0.010-0.150% V, and 0.010-0.030% Ti within a Ti/N>=3.5 range, and if necessary, contg. 1 or >=2 kinds of <=0.50% Ni and <=0.50% Cr and <=0.50% Cu, and the balance consisting of Fe and unavoidable impurities is hot-rolled at 800-850 deg.C finishing temps. Thence, it is made into a pipe at <=550 deg.C coiling temp., and is cooled at 50 deg.C/sec cooling rate after welding and annealing. Thereby, the electric welded steel pipe of strength at about >=60kg/mm.<2> tensile strength is obtained.
