Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a hot rolled high tensile steel plate of bainite structure having superior cold workability, toughness, weldability, strungth and yield ratio by hot rolling low C-high Mn-Mo-Cr-Nb type steel under specified conditions followed by coiling and cooling.
CONSTITUTION: Steel is cast contg. C; 0.03W0.15%, Si; 0.1W1.0%, Mn; 1.5W 2.0%, Mo<0.3%, Cr; 0.3W0.6%, sol. Al<0.05%, Nb; 0.01W0;1%, S<0.01% and one or more out of REM; 0.005W0.1%, Ca; 0.005W0.01%, Zr; 0.01W0.1% and Ti; 0.03W0.08%. The resulting ingot is heated to above 1200°C and hot rolled to a plate. This plate is finish hot rolled in the temp. range of 750W900°C and coiled in the temp. range of 550W600°C. At this time, the average cooling speed of the plate from the finish hot rolling to coiling is regulated to above 8°/sec. Thus, a hot rolled high tensile steel plate is obtd. having a strength about 80 kg/mm2 and an yield ratio below 0.85.
