Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a high tensile steel wire rod having a high yield point and superior relaxation resistance by hot rolling a steel of a specified component system followed by forced cooling, spreading in the form of a ring, cooling with a blast and warm leveling. CONSTITUTION:A steel consisting of C 0.10-0.40%, Si 0.05-1.5%, Mn 0.70- 2.50%, Cr 0.10-1.50%, B 0.0002-0.0050%, and the balance Fe and inevitable impurities is hot rolled to a wire rod, immediately forced to cool, and spread on a conveyor in the form of a ring at a supercooled austenite state. This rod is then cooled with a blast at rate of 7 deg.C/sec or more to convert the whole rod into of martensite structure. It is coiled, slowly cooled, self-tempered to provide high toughness and high strength of 110kg/mm<2> or more, and warm leveled at 100-450 deg.C so that the bending degree becomes 4mm or less per 1.5m.
