Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the images of good gradation characteristic by using the specific screen-form photoreceptor in the method of forming the images by modulating ion current by the first latent image formed on the screen-form photoreceptor. CONSTITUTION:The screen-form photoreceptor 15 comprising providing a photoconductive layer 17 and surface insulation layer 18 on the modulating corona source side and the opposite side and a potential maintaining layer 19 on the modulating corona source side is used for a conductive member 16. Primary voltage application is done by a corona discharger 25 for the abovementioned photoreceptor 15 to make the surface potential of the insulation layer 19 positive. Next, the secondary voltage application of the polarity opposite from the above is done by a corona discharger 27 to make the surface potential of the insulation layer 19 largely negative. Next, exposure is done from the arrow 30 direction through the original image 29 to form the primary latent image on the photoreceptor 15, thence negative polarity corona ions are radiated from a modulating corona wire 32 and while the specified negative charging is being applied to the potential maintaining layer 19, the ion current is modulated by the primary latent image of the photoreceptor 15 to form the secondary latent image on the chargeable surface 31. This is then developed with positive-charged toner.
