Abstract

PURPOSE: The temperature distribution on the wall of, each carbonization chamber is measured in the horizontal and vertical directions and the calorie and volume supply of the fuel gas are controlled by the results to optimize the temperature difference in the furnace direction, thus preventing the damage of the furnace and increasing the uniformity of quality of coke produced.
CONSTITUTION: A poor gas 2 such as blast furnace gas and a rich gas such as coke furnace gas are mixed and supplied through fuel gas line 4 into the group of coke oven chambers 1. The flow rate of these gases is detected with each detector 5 or 6 to make flow-rate controller 7 and arithmetic unit 8 control the rich-gas line 3 so that the calorie of the mixed gas is adjusted. Further, the flow rate of the mixed gas is detected by detector 10 and controlled by flow controller 11 and arithmetic controller 8. In the meantime, the temperature of each carbonization chamber in the horizontal and vertical direction of the furnace is sent through detector 13 and arithmetic unit 8 to controllers 7 and 11 to effect the cascade control, whereby the temperature difference in the vertical direction of the furnace is calculated to control the change in the calorie of the fuel gas and the volume of the fuel gas supplied.
