Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve combustion efficiency and stabilize operation by a method wherein fuel flow rate, exhaust gas oxygen concentration, and furnace pressure are measured continuously, and opening of a damper is so controlled that the oxygen concentration measurement value will coincide with an oxygen concentration setpoint suited for the fuel flow rate.
CONSTITUTION: In the case of a reheating furnace 1, the furnace 1 is divided into a heating zone 1a consisting of three sub-zones and a soaking zone 1b consisting of four sub-zones, for example. Combustion control is conducted based on the temperature set for each sub-zone. A microcomputer MCP is fed with measurement data G(x), G(p) and G(f) measured respectively by an oxygen analyzer 8, furnace pressure gauge 12, and flow meter 13. An oxygen concentration setpoint corresponding to the value G(f) is determined in reference to discrete data H(f) prepared for correspondence between the fuel flow rate and the exhaust gas oxygen concentration setpoint, and is compared with the measurement value G(x), thereby to calculate a furnace pressure setpoint. The furnace pressure setpoint is compared with the measurement value G(p), and the opening of a damper 10 is controlled according to the deviation.
