Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the operation of a furnace in the range of low excessive air by a method wherein operating states of a furnace are controlled so that the oxygen concentration in exhaust gas can take a desired value. CONSTITUTION:A computer 14 is provided which can output a desired concentration of oxygen on the basis of a prestored furnace load or a quantity of state equivalent to the furnace load or the like, for example, a relation between a fuel gas flow or a heating value and a concentration of excessive oxygen. An oxygen concentration regulator 16 is provided which compares an output from this computer 14 with a measured value of oxygen concentration in the waste gas from an oxygen meter 12 to output a desired in-furnace pressure value to an oxygen concentration regulator 16 and this output is compared with the in-furnace pressure from a pressure meter 13 by an in-furnace pressure regulator 18 which controls the opening of a damper 11 equipped in an exhaust gas passage to keep the combustion in the furnace under the optimum state. By this method, an operation excellent in internal efficiency can be obtained by a furnace in a low excessive air range, thereby enabling an operation with high thermal efficiency.
