Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce friction caused by the contact force at the rolling contact surfaces between the bottom wall of outer ring of a rolling bearing and the mating member to be held in contact with the same, by employing an arrangement capable of producing a proper contact force at the rolling contact surfaces and accomplishing good lubrication between these rolling contact surfaces. CONSTITUTION:The apparatus of this invention is composed of cross-shaped shafts 1, 2, one-side enclosed shell type rolling bearing 3, shell-shaped outer ring 4, seal member 5 and yoke 6. The outer ring 4 has bottom wall 42 only at the other end and the wall 42 includes a conical tapered surface 44 having its top 43 substantially at the axial position of the bearing and projected toward the opened side of the ring 4. The bottom wall 42 is capable of causing elastic deformation in the axial direction relatively with ease, supported at the peripheral portion of the tapered surface (near the cylindrical portion). With such an arrangement, it is enabled to reduce friction by producing a proper contact force at the rolling contact surfaces and accomplishing good lubrication between these rolling contact surfaces.
