Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain electric conductivity and thereby preventing occurrence of noises and increasing of torque, by providing a resilient ring and a needle roller bearing including a bearing ring having a groove and fitted on the inside of said resilient ring.
CONSTITUTION: A bearing 1 comprises a multiplicity of needle rollers 7, cage 8 for holding these needle rollers 7 in place, bearing ring 10 held in contact with the needle rollers 7 from the outside thereof, and resilient ring 9 fitted around the bearing ring 10. The bearing ring 10 is shaped in the form of a thin sleeve having a straight groove extended obliquely throughout the entire length of the sleeve, and has two conductive pieces 12 folded outward from one end of the same. On the other hand, resilient ring 9 is made of rubber and consists of a cylindrical portion 13 and flange portions 14, 15. Here, portions 12A of conductive pieces 12 folded outward to be exposed from the peripheral surface of ring 9 are held in contact with the inner peripheral surface of a steering column 3, so that a current feeding passage is formed through a steering shaft 2, needle rollers 7 and bearing ring 10. Since, with such an arrangement, excessively large or excessively small clearance is not formed between rolling contact surfaces of needle rollers 7 and steering shaft 2, it is enabled to prevent occurrence of rattling noises and to increase in the steering torque.
