Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a sufficiently large contact force between the end face of a shaft and an outer-ring bottom wall of a roller bearing, by forming the inner surface of the outer-ring bottom wall by a central flat portion and an inclined surface surrounding the central flat portion, and forming projections on the central flat portion. CONSTITUTION:Out of the inner surfaces of outer-ring bottom wall 41 of a one-end enclosed type roller bearing 3, at least the surface facing the end face of shaft 2 includes a central flat portion 43 and a tapered surface 42 continguous to the portion 43. The flat portion 43 is formed with a plurality of projections 44 to be held in contact with the end face of shaft 2. By thus forming the outer-ring bottom wall 41, it is allowed to cause elastic deformation in the axial direction relatively with ease, supported at the peripheral portion of tapered surface 42, so that the bearing can be assembled in a cross-shaped shaft coupling while developing a sufficiently large contact force between the end face of shaft 2 and outer-ring bottom wall 41 of the bearing.
