Abstract

In a tapered roller bearing, the integral rib conventionally provided at the large diameter end of the cone 11 is replaced by a separate rib ring 12 which may be formed of metal or plastics and which is located on the cone against axial movement away from the raceway. Such rib ring has an accurately preformed surface for contacting and guiding the large diameter ends of the rollers and includes a part of a seal assembly. Such part may be constituted by a cylindrical extension having an accurately preformed surface or by a radial flange supporting a sealing member. <IMAGE>
