Abstract

The combined thrust and journal bearing (1) has a cylindrical housing (15) with a flanged end (13). The flanged end has a short cylindrical extension (5) which supports a cage (9) carrying the thrust rollers (11). The cage (9) is retained by a lip (7) formed on the rim of the cylindrical extension (5). A sintered metal bush (19) which is self lubricating is fitted in the main cylindrical housing (15) and is retained by claws (21) projecting radially inwards. The bush (19) which forms the journal bearing may also be made from a suitable plastics. A thrust ring may be provided between the rollers (11) and the flange (13).
