Abstract

1340607 Bearings TIMKEN CO 2 June 1972 [16 June 1971] 28323/71 Heading F2A In a tapered roller thrust bearing comprising two races 1, 3 having arranged therebetween one row or a plurality of concentric rows of tapered rollers, one race 1 is formed with a central axially projecting journal 2, and the other race 3 is formed with a corresponding central hole 4 for receiving the journal. The radial bearing thus formed may be either a plain bearing or a needle roller bearing. A disc 5 bolted to the journal 2 retains the races together. A lifting bolt can be inserted in a hole 11 provided in the journal. The surfaces of the races remote from the bearing surfaces may be planar, concave, or convex.
