Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the sedimentation characteristic of flocs by adding an α- starch solution to the waste sludge containing Al(OH)3 flocs and stirring therewith.
CONSTITUTION: Floc-containing sludge is filtered out from the treating waste water in which flocs of Al(OH)3 have been formed by flocculating agents such as aluminum sulfate, poly aluminum chloride after which, a small amount of α-starch is dissolved in water and is added to the waste water under stirring, and this considerably reduces the volume of the flocs and enhance sedimentation characteristic.
