Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain input signal representing the flow rate of intake air with ease, by varying the magnitude of electric power applied to a temperature-sensitive resistor disposed in the intake passage, representing the electric power by a pulse train, measuring the time ratio and others, and carrying out control for the measuring time in an electronic control circuit. CONSTITUTION:A temperature-sensitive resistor (electric heat emitting element) 24 constituting a thermal air-flow meter is disposed in air passage 22 located on the upstream side of the throttle valve in the intake passage. Electric power is applied to the resistor 24 by impressing pulse signal to the base terminal of transistor Tr154 such that voltage (reference voltage) at the junction of resistors R160 and R162 is equal to the terminal voltage of capacitor C158. Voltage of heat emitting element 24 is compared with said reference voltage in comparator 164, and after integrating the output at R166 and C168, it is compared with output of saw-tooth wave generating circuit 170 in comparator 172. In case that output of the comparator 172 is L-level, comparator 172 operates to interrupt transistor Tr154 and switch 156, to hold the voltage of capacitor C158 at the level maintained shortly before interruption, and to afford pulse-train signal to the control circuit.
