Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform sound casting of less casting defects such as microporosities, cold shuts, pinholes, etc. by pouring molten metal simultaneously in a laminar state over the approximate entire length of the casting section of metal mold.
CONSTITUTION: The body 5a of a trough 5 is inserted into the casting section 4 of a metal mold 1 and with the slit 6 in an upward posture, molten metal is filled in the body 5a from a puring ladle 9. After this, the trough 5 is rotated to direct the slit 6 downward and the molten metal is poured simultaneously over the approximate length of the casting section 4 of the rotating metal mold 1 to form the molten metal layer 10 in the inside surface of the metal mold 1. As a result of this, the molten metal fallen from the trough 5 may be poured to the entire circumference of the metal mold 1 in a laminar flow state. Since the movement of the molten metal in the axial direction of the metal mold 1 can be minimized, the inclusion of air is less and the temperature decrease of the molten metal is small. Hence, the occurrence of the foregoing casting defects may be suppressed.
