Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify a charger, by utilizing a controller for an electric motor to perform charging.
CONSTITUTION: The electric motor A is energized by a battery BT and is speed- controlled by a transistor Tr. When a switch MS is opened to charge the battery by an AC power source e, the primary winding W1 of a transformer is energized and a voltage is induced by a secondary winding W21 of the transformer. At that time, an electrical current flows from a diode D4 to a diode D3 through a fuse FS, the battery BT and a shunt resistor SH. Thereby, the battery is charged at the positive half cycle. As for the negative half cycle, the attery is charged by an electrical current flowing from a diode D1 to the diode D3 through the fuse, the battery and the shunt resistor. The secondary winding W21 serves also as a reactor RE, which is controlled by the transistor Tr when the motor is driven. The primary winding W1 is provided around the core of the reactor to perform the charging.
