Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption by performing intermittent oscillation when a main capacitor is almost fully charged. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 1 is turned on, electric energy from an electric power source 2 is applied to a capacitor 9 to continue oscillation through an oscillation transformer 4, thereby charging a main capacitor 9. When the main capacitor 9 is almost fully charged, however, a current required for the operation of an oscillation transistor (TR)5 becomes deficient because of the variable resistance 3 of the primary-side coil 4a of the oscillation transformer 4, thereby stopping the oscillation. Thus, the oscillation is held stopped continuously and then electric energy from the power source 2 is applied through the variable resistance 3 to the capacitor 6, which is charged; and the TR5 turns on to start the oscillation, thereby charging the main capacitor 9. Consequently, when the main capacitor is almost fully charged, intermittent oscillation is performed, reducing power consumption.
