Abstract
PURPOSE: To accomplish concentration of a mixed gas at a low cost by arranging a heat exchanger connected to a regenerative fluid feed pipe on the downstream of a compressor installed to one or both of a pipe for feeding a mixed gas and a pipe for discharging a concentrated gas.
CONSTITUTION: Air fed to an adsorption tower 1 is dehydrated and delivered through a pipe B. In switching over the flow of air to an adsorption tower 2 from the tower 1 whose adsorption power is lowered, a part of the air thus dehydrated is brought into heat exchange with air to pass through the towers 1 and 2 in a heat exchanger 28 to lower the temperature thereof and then, the tower 2 is subjected to a scavenging. On the other hand, the air thus heated in the heat exchanger 28 is employed as a regenerative air for dehumidifying an adsorbent. Highly pressurized low temperature dehumidified air is fed to an adsorption tower 3 through a pipe E to adsorb N2, whereby a highly O2-enriched gas is delivered through a pipe F. In switching over the flow of air to an adsorption tower 4 from the tower 3, a part of the gas thus obtained, whose pressure is lowered, scavenges the tower 4. With such an arrangment, a heat source for making a high temperature regenerative air becomes unnecessary, thus reducing the load on a cooler 27.
