Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover effectively the energy described in the title, and to stabilize the operation of an expansion turbine, by installing a heat exchanger, which reheat the furnace top gas liberated from dust by a venturi scrubber, on a gas line at upstream side of the scrubber.
CONSTITUTION: Furnace top gas at 200W250°C discharged from a blast furnace 1 is liberated from dust while passing through a dust-collector 2, a venturi scrubber 3 so that the dust-content is reduced from 5W20 g/Nm3 to 10W50 mg/Nm3. The gas, which is wetted and saturated with moisture at about 40°C and leaves the scrubber 3, passes through a heat exchanger 11 equipped with a heat pipe as a constitution element and installed at the upstream side of the scrubber 3, and it is heated. It is then led to an expansion turbine 4 where its heat is used for expansion work which drives a generator 5. If necessary, a portion of the gas at the outlet of the scrubber 3 is decompressed in a septum valve 6, and is delivered together with turbine outlet gas through an electric precipitator 7 to a gas holder 15.
