Abstract
PURPOSE: Cyclopentenone derivatives are subjeced to asymmetric hydrosilylation reaction to yield optically active cyclopentenolone derivatives useful as intermediates for pyrethroid insecticides.
CONSTITUTION: The hydrosily lation of a cyclopentenone derivative of formula I (R1 is H, methyl, ethyl, vinyl; R2 is H, methyl) is effected by the reaction with dihydrosilane in the presence of a rhodium complex having optically active phosphine as ligands, then the silyl group is removed to obtain an optically active compound of formula II. Subsequently the ketal is hydrolyzed to yield an optically active cyclopentenolone derivative of formula III as optically active allethrolon. The starting material of formula I is prepared from racemic cycylopentenolone derivatives of formula IV.
