Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a heating tube of a raised overall coefficent of heat transfer by the procedure in which tunnel-shaped cavities are formed on the inner and outer walls of tube by forming dents and projections in mandrel or roll and then by rolling it with piriger -mill rolling in order to accelerate boiling phenomenon.
CONSTITUTION: The dents 10 and the projections 9 are formed in the axial direction of the mandrel 7 or in the diametral direction of the piriger roll 5, and then piriger -mill rolling is made to form grooves matching with the dents and the projections on the inner or outer wall of tube. Then, it is drawn to a fixed final diameter, whereupon the grooves formed suffer compressive stress in its diametral and thicker direction and also suffer tensile stress in its axial direction to deform, forming tunnel-shaped cavities connected in the axial direction of tube. The formation of the cavities enables boiling phenomenon in heating tube to take place very readily, thus giving excellent haet transmission effect.
