Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of ground contamination and make images of high density by forming a developing electrode with a plurality of split electrodes corresponding to the picture images on a recording medium partitioned by insulating materials, etc. and applying the voltages corresponding to the presence and absence of the images. CONSTITUTION:A developing electrode 1 is constituted by the split electrodes 10... which are mutually isolated by insulation plates 9... and correspond to the picture elements of a recording member. When bias and reverse bias voltages are respectively applied via power sources 4, 4' to the electrodes 10... opposing to the image parts 5... and non-image parts 6... of the recording member formed by a base conductive layer 3 and a dielectric layer 2 where the latent images are formed, then developing particles 7... concentrically deposit on the image parts 5... without depositng on the non-image parts 6... of the layer 2. Hence, the images of high density may be formed without ground contamination. The similar results are also obtained even by controlling the voltages being applied to the split electrodes according to the majority of the presence or not of the latent images on the recording member.
