Abstract

1298959 Electro-photographic imaging OWENS-ILLINOIS Inc 30 Dec 1969 [28 Feb 1969] 63313/69 Heading G2H In an electro-photographic copier using the principle of persistent internal polarization in a photo-conductive layer, the two electrodes producing the polarizing field are located on the same side of the photo-conductive layer and are formed of arrays fixed to or embedded in the surface of the layer. A D.C. or an A.C. potential may be applied. As shown electrodes 12, 14, formed of arrays of conductive strips, are attached to the surface of photo-conductive layer 10. A D.C. potential is applied between the electrodes to polarize the layer in the illuminated region 18. When an A.C. potential is used Fig.4 (not shown), charge carriers of the polarity having the lower mobility remain in the exposed areas to form the latent image.
