Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for separately providing cooling devices for protecting function elements and miniaturize stack type semiconductor devices by securing and fixing a surge voltage protecting element or an overcurrent protecting element having heat radiating fins on both sides of element with flat package type semiconductor elements in-between.
CONSTITUTION: semiconductor elements 1 and 2 are compression-bonded and fixed with heat radiating fins 4, 5 in-between. A fin 3, condenser 11b, fin 14, resistance 11a, fin 13 constituting a surge voltage protecting element or an over-current protecting element 11 are compression-bonded in this order on the opposite side of the fins 4, 5 of one element 1. A fin 6, condenser 12b, fin 15, resistance 12a, fin 16 forming a protecting function element 12 are also mounted in this order on the semiconductor element 2 side. The entire part is then fastened by means of structural bodies 9, 10 via insulators 7, 8. Thereafter, the fins 4 and 13 are connected to connect the elements 1 and 11 in parallel, and likewise the fins 5 and 16 are connected to connect the element 2 and element 12 in parallel
